Happy Joe’s is a corner bar on Queen Street in Toronto. It’s loud, crowded, and it always smells like beer, cigarettes, and sweat. It’s got everything you need – a decent selection of drinks from taps that change out every day, friendly staff (not overworked or stressed), and an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life.
The team there is amazing – their dedication for quality service is unparalleled in the industry. They’ve even set up a credit card processor to accept payments and ensure the bartenders and servers get paid on time. All I can say is that I hope that at Happy Joe´s, they never change. 
Happy Joe’s also has a $10 happy hour – every day, in the evenings, from 4pm to 8pm. (I assume it’s the same time all year round!) What a great way to get a pint and some food for cheap. And Happy Joe’s also has a great free parking lot if you need one. The menu is where I think Happy Joe’s could make some improvements though. Their food menu is small, limited, and on the expensive side for what you get. Their fries are nice, but I have honestly had better.
The best thing is that their poutine is average – you could even go across the street and get a better one for about the same price. I get their food to eat with my pint – but I wouldn’t go back again after just for a meal to Happy Joe´s Pizza place. The tap selection is good though, never leaving me wanting more or less when it comes to variety. (They rotate out the taps daily, so you’ll never see the same beer twice in a row.
For example, a few weeks ago I didn’t see Goose Island for about a week – so I had to try something new when I went back. A little disappointing, but not much different from any other bar; Happy Joe’s is one of my favorite bars in Toronto. It’s a really comfortable place to hang out with friends and drink good beer for cheap.
