Don Lindsay, President & Chief Executive Officer of Teck Resources, has been a key member of the company’s senior management team since being appointed as its President and Chief Operating Officer in April 2005.

Don succeeds longtime president and CEO Jim Bob Moffat who announced his intention to retire from the world-class mining company in November 2012. Lindsay will be taking over for Moffat, effective January 1, 2013.

A native of Saskatoon, Lindsay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan. He then pursued graduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Denver. He has also completed advanced executive training programs at Harvard University, the London School of Economics and Georgetown University. His career has spanned a wide range of businesses in Canada, Asia and the United States. Most recently he was President & CEO of Teck Resources’ US subsidiary Teck Cominco Inc., formerly known as Cominco USA Inc., serving as President & CEO for its entire history. More information here

Throughout his career, he was involved in a wide range of management positions. He started with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, where he spent 13 years in the office of general manager. In the private sector, Lindsay most recently held the position of President & CEO at Cominco USA Inc., a leading underground coal mining company. While at Cominco USA Inc., Lindsay was also responsible for its development and implementation of a major expansion project near Wheeling, WV. Teck is majority-owned by Teck Resources Ltd., which is based in Vancouver and is Canada’s largest diversified resource company with operations around the world from Canada to Indonesia to Mozambique.
