Amy’s Kitchen

Amy's KitchenAmy’s Kitchen has been the leading brand for fresh, healthy, and innovative frozen dinners since 1988. They make vegetarian meals from natural ingredients like vegetables, nuts, and grains without preservatives. Amy’s offers meal choices for all occasions from its online store and a private-label frozen dinner program for food service distributors. It is a family-owned company started by Amy’s family in 1988. They are a certified B corporation, which means they are committed to meeting high environmental and social performance standards and balanced growth. With a diverse menu including vegan, vegetarian, non-dairy, and organic options, Amy’s food is available in natural food stores nationwide and more than 15,000 grocery stores nationwide. Amy’s is also available in Canada and select countries internationally.

In 2007, Amy’s Kitchen launched the world’s first refrigerated pizza with non-anthropomorphic toppings. The company has since expanded into making frozen meals, smoothies, and other prepared foods sold nationwide in grocery stores.

In 2001, it was purchased by Conagra Brands. At that time, Conagra Brands owned other frozen food brands, including Healthy Choice, Hungry Man (on sale to Kraft Foods in 2003), Farmer Jack, and Bertolli. In 2007, however, Conagra Brands spun off its frozen food business into an independent company called Pinnacle Foods Inc.

Jennifer Splitz is the Chief Executive Officer at Amy’s Kitchen. She was named CEO in 2006 and has held various positions since 1990. Jennifer is a certified B Corporation with a long history in the natural foods industry and has been on the board of directors since 2007.

It donates 5% of sales to nonprofits focusing on hunger relief and sustainable agriculture, like the Hunger Project and World Food Program USA. Also, Amy’s contributes $2 to Heifer International for every product they sell with the Heifer logo on it (Heifer promotes world hunger relief by donating animals to developing countries).

Amy's KitchenIn addition to providing meals free from meat and dairy products, it strives to create its meals in a way free from artificial flavors or preservatives. This tradition started from a mission statement developed by co-founder Andy Berliner in 1987. The company is dedicated to using fresh, natural ingredients; it has been working with growers since 1994 on the procurement standards of their products.
