Alliance defending freedom is an organization that was founded in 1994. The group’s goal is to protect and promote the freedom of speech, religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and the traditional family by providing a coordinated legal program and other educational programs.
“The Legal Network” is a part of Alliance Defending Freedom. It is a legal network that provides free legal representation to Christians and their ministries who want to follow their faith. Since its founding, the Legal Network has helped many Christians and their ministries defend their First Amendment freedoms against government restrictions on religion and speech.
Alliance defending freedom started with one attorney but has grown to over 3000 attorneys willing to provide free legal representation to Christians and their ministries. It also has several advocacy groups that work together to achieve its goal of increasing the freedom to live out its faith in the United States.
Alliance Defending Freedom focuses on protecting the God-given rights of individuals and families. It fights against government censorship and bureaucratic interference in religious life, along with the infringement on freedom of speech and association that it imposes on all Americans regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations.

- Religious Freedom
The organization believes that all Americans, of every faith or no faith, should have the right to freely practice and express their faith in public life as guaranteed by the United States Constitution.
- Free Speech
Alliance Defending Freedom believes in the freedom of speech for all Americans and encourages this freedom for those whose beliefs differ from those held by the majority.
- Sanctity of Life
The organization believes that life begins at conception and that every human has inherent value and dignity.
- Parental Rights
The organization believes that parents have the right and should be encouraged to raise their children in a manner consistent with their own beliefs, free from state interference.
- International Work
