Randy Douthit is a noted successful producer and director from Newberg, Oregon. He is recognized for producing the popular TV show “Judge Judy” and the new show “Judy Justice.” Aside from producing these hit shows, he has also helped bring “Crossfire,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Larry King Live” to the forefront. The producer is from Oregon but today primarily works out of Los Angeles, California. He is a man who believes people should do what they love for a living to get the most out of it. Douthit attended Portland State University and earned a B.A. in psychology. One of the most notable shows he produced, “Judge Judy,” officially ended in 2021 after 25 years and is currently succeeded by “Judy Justice,” which plays on IMDB TV. The director explains how difficult it was to produce during the height of the coronavirus pandemic with programs being delayed and new health measures having to be implemented to curb the spread of the virus. One of the issues was making up for the additional costs that come from testing and other procedures as well as planning additional time to film. Randy Douthit explains people were extra cautious during such a time. The restrictions and changes still did not delay the filming of “Judy Justice” as they had to crank out 120 episodes in just 3 months. The director stated everyone had to come together and work hard to make it happen during the pandemic. The judge even worked remotely to make it all work during such a time. The individual believes he is a successful director because he likes to work effectively and quickly. He also singles out his dedication to his craft and skill to just get things done. According to him, it only helps that he is good at what he does. As a kid growing up, Randy Douthit found inspiration from those working behind the scenes; from the production manager to the head of programming. He modeled what they did and had his start on the TV Series “Seattle Today.” Douthit is a Peabody Award winner and also attended Stanford University for a time.
