One of the most fundamental aspects of the great experiment that is American democracy is that all citizens of this nation should enjoy religious liberty. That means the freedom to practice the religion of one’s choice or even no religion at all.
This notion is at the heart of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). This nonprofit group was founded in 1993 by an array of leading Christian scholars, legal talents, historians and just average people who believe in the mission of this social advocacy group.
The ADF also has sent its attorneys and resources to defend people against religious persecution in other nations.
The Alliance Defending Freedom defines six key areas:
- Conscience – Ensuring that people are not only free to believe but free to act.
- Public Square – Protecting the right of people to openly express their views in public forums.
- Church – If churches are kept silent, the culture of the nation is degraded.
- K through 12 – School children face increased pressure to hide their faith in the classroom.
- University – College students of faith are too often shouted down and forced to keep religious views to themselves in campus settings.
- Military – The men and women defending America must be allowed to show and express their religious faiths.
In addition to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, the Alliance Defending Freedom works to support the sanctity of marriage and protect the family unit. That includes strengthening parental rights and making sure the mothers and fathers have the final say in what happens to their children. That includes what they are taught to believe and how to act in society.
The Alliance Defending Freedom has a proven track record of success. It has won multiple high-profile legal cases and successfully argued important cases before the Supreme Court. Visit this page for additional information.
