About Ross Levinsohn

Ross Levinsohn has had an instrumental role in turning Yahoo into a digital media conglomerate. In his second career as CEO at Yahoo!, Ross is working to create products and services that keep users engaged while generating revenue. Ross has worked with some of the greatest minds in technology, including Google’s Larry Page and Eric Schmidt when he was president at Google. Sports Illustrated CEO Ross also brings a background in the entertainment industry to Yahoo’s ambitious plans to create a living, breathing digital media ecosystem. Under his direction, Yahoo purchased leading online video distribution and advertising platform BrightRoll for $640 million.

Ross Levinsohn is one of a kind mixture of creative content consumer and hard-nosed business innovator. He is constantly looking for new ways to expand the options for consumers everywhere, particularly those who lack access to traditional digital content in emerging markets. He is also focused on attracting more advertisers. In December 2013, Yahoo acquired the video advertising platform BrightRoll for $640 million and he had this to say about the acquisition: “We’re inventing new ways to attract today’s consumers. We believe video is the future. We will continue to invest in it, and we will be one of the leaders in that space.”

Sports Illustrated CEO Ross Levinsohn is among the most experienced media executives in the industry, with more than 25 years of experience in launching and building digital properties, pioneering advertising technology and creating original content. That makes him one of the most uniquely qualified individuals to lead Yahoo!, where he is tasked with bringing new life to the company.
