Real estate agent Nick Millican talks about the UK´s current housing trends. Financial reasons aren’t the only reason to move. Many people relocate to a new location to take advantage of leasing or buying a more affordable home.
However, Jonathon Williams and Lotte Brewer decided to rent out their three-bedroom Wimbledon home after experiencing the tranquility of a mountain ski trip. Upon their return to Wimbledon, Nick Millican recalls, the city’s noisy and hectic atmosphere was a shock to the system.
The couple had already been thinking of relocating, and this spurred them to proceed. They contacted an estate agent with the idea of renting their three-bedroom house and were surprised to have three offers within 48 hours. With the house rented out, Nick Millican follows on, the couple and their two sons moved in with Lotte’s mother in Amsterdam.
The couple took the opportunity to search for a house to rent in the Hague. By summer, the family had found a five-bedroom house in an upscale neighborhood close to the city center and the beach. Nick Millican informs how the couple’s London Victorian home rents for the same price as their five-bedroom house in the Hague.
Luckily, Jonathon, a remote worker for a PR agency, and Lotte, a journalist, had the flexibility to move while keeping their jobs. The movie had the added benefit of subsidized child care, significantly reducing the amount the couple used to pay for childcare. Nick Millican, a real estate expert, says the allure to relocate is only sometimes based on money but also on quality of life. Currently, Lotte, Jonathon, and their two sons enjoy a calm and stress-free quality of life.
