Meet Robert Kraft, The Owner of the Patriots

Welcome to the world of football and business. In the middle of both is Robert Kraft, the CEO of Kraft group and the owner of the national football league, New England Patriots.

Early Life

Robert Kraft was born in 1941 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He attended Columbia University in 1963 and extended his education in 1965 at Harvard Business school, where he graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration. His enthusiasm for football began he was playing for the Columbia University football team.

Career

After school, his first career job was in Worcester, where he worked with Rand-Whitney Group, a packaging company. Now he serves as the chairman of the company. Due to his experience in the paper industry, he began his paper firm, International Forest Products. Now the company consistently appears in the top 100 US exporters/importers companies.

Kraft owns several media stations and has helped fund film and television production companies such as Scott Sanders.

New England Patriots

This is an American Football league owned by Robert Kraft since January 1994. Patriots’ fans were much excited by Robert purchasing the club that they bought almost 6000 season tickets. This had never happened in the patriots ‘ years of history. Robert Kraft improved the Patriot’s stadium in Foxboro, and although he faced quite some challenges, they agreed with Massachusetts legislators and allowed for stadium improvement. It is now famously known as Gillette stadium.

Robert has been at the forefront of improving land around Gillette Stadium; in 2007, he set aside $375 million to develop Patriot Place, which will include open-air shopping and entertainment center. Since Kraft took over ownership of the club, the team has seen significant success, including 12 playoff appearances in 17 years against six playoffs in 33 years with the previous owner.
