The AARP has partnered with the National Nurse Practitioners Association (NNPA) for more than a year to develop and advocate for coverage of nurse practitioner services in Medicare Advantage Plans nationwide. The AARP, along with the NNPA, is working to ensure that access to care by patients will continue as private insurance companies replace traditional Medicare plans.

The AARP is the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all Americans aged 50 and older. AARP conducted a survey in which they found that more than one-third of Medicare Advantage beneficiaries (38%) did not have a primary care provider.

AARP offers support for nurse practitioners (NPs) as generalists, which has allowed them to provide their expertise to the public and alleviate the shortage of care physicians in the United States.
