Gino Pozzo’s Passion For Football Leads The Watford Club To Greatness

When it comes to taking lackluster football clubs and turning them around, few are as capable as Gino Pozzo. As the owner of the Watford Football Club in England, Pozzo continues to be one of the most influential figures in the European sports scene. Much of this, of course, comes from his extreme passion for the sport.

A Legacy of Football

It’s no surprise that Pozzo’s passion for football is a result of being born into a family born to love the game. In 1986, Pozzo’s father Gianpaolo entered the world of sports club ownership through the purchase of the Udinese club in their hometown. With help from the profits, they made through their woodworking business, the family led the club to glory. Gino Pozzo wasn’t one to be left behind and in 2012 the family purchased the Watford club with Pozzo himself at the head of the club.

A Triple Threat

Under his leader, the Watford club quickly became a powerhouse and in just under four years rose from the Fourth Division to the Premiere League. By 2015, each of the family’s three clubs found themselves competing in the country’s top leagues. With Gino Pozzo now at the forefront of the family’s expansion into sports ownership, each club has only continued to show the world the power behind their leadership. The secret to Pozzo’s success, however, lies in his passion and dedication to the game of football.

Staying Close

Working out of his Vicarage Road office, Gino Pozzo takes a hands-on approach when it comes to the daily operations of the Watford club. Rather than sticking to administrative or fiscal duties, he makes sure to always be up-to-date with the club’s development every step of the way. With this much dedication, it’s no surprise that Gino Pozzo has quickly become one of the strongest team owners in the world.
