Akeem Jamal is Assistant Vice President, Communications & Government Affairs at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. He was appointed to the position in December 2013, after spending the previous three years as Communications & Marketing Manager. He has a wealth of public relations experience and is dedicated to building relationships with stakeholders and community groups while working toward ROI’s mission of developing a sustainable balance between the needs of residents, employees, investors and partners.

Akeem has spent over 12 years in the communications field working with public relations agencies and corporations such as Ketchum Public Relations Worldwide, Ford Motor Company, Morgan Stanley, NBC Universal Media and Lorillard Tobacco Company. Akeem has honed his skills in strategic planning, crisis management, and media relations. He has worked at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation since 2010, first as Communications & Marketing manager.

Akeem was named a Top Ten Communicator in 2010 by the New York City Chapter of the American Marketing Association. He has been recognized by the American Islamic Congress, the New York Press Association, and the New York chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
4.Community Involvement
Akeem has served on both the Board of Governors for the National Black Public Relations Society and on the Advisory Panel of Harlem Village Academies, which has three charter schools and serves over 3,000 students in Harlem, New York City. All three schools have been recognized as being among the best high schools in New York State.
- Personal Life
Akeem grew up in the Bronx, New York, and resides in New York City with his wife and children. He is focused on mentoring young people and is active in several non-profit groups such as Harlem Village Academies, New York Press Club, National Black Public Relations Society and National Association of Black Journalists. Akeem is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Baruch College. Akeem has worked around the world including Nigeria, China, Ukraine and Russia.
