From Academic Excellence to Investment Leadership: Levi Pettit’s Path to Dornick Wealth Management

Achievement has been a consistent theme throughout Levi Pettit’s career, from his days as a two-time Academic All-America Scholar to his current role launching Dornick Wealth Management.

Pettit’s journey began at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he balanced the demands of Division III athletics with academic excellence. Graduating magna cum laude with a double major in finance and economics, he demonstrated early the kind of discipline that would later define his professional approach.

“Division III athletics often involve a dedication to hard work and a true love of the game,” Pettit reflects. “There are no athletic scholarships, so you’re just choosing to take time away from your studies to play a college sport.”

This foundation in time management and commitment translated directly to his finance career. After starting in commercial banking, Pettit moved into family office investing, where he gained exposure to alternative investments and high-net-worth client relationships.

The transition to entrepreneurship came through his MBA experience at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. There, conversations with alumni working in the RIA space opened his eyes to new possibilities in wealth management.

“I never would have considered myself an entrepreneurial guy,” Pettit admits. “But being surrounded by those people gave me the confidence that you can start a business.”

His professional credentials reflect this commitment to excellence. Both his CFA and CFP designations required extensive study while maintaining full-time employment—a challenge that mirrors his student-athlete experience.

“Nobody ever asked me to do this professionally,” he says of pursuing the CFA designation. “It’s something I did on my own. It was a lot of evenings and weekends studying.”

Today, these experiences inform Dornick Wealth Management’s approach to client service. The firm emphasizes systematic planning and disciplined execution—principles Pettit learned through years of balancing competing demands and maintaining high standards.

For clients, this background provides confidence that their advisor understands both the technical aspects of investment management and the personal discipline required to execute long-term financial strategies successfully.

Pettit’s professional profile reflects this combination of academic achievement, professional credentials, and entrepreneurial vision—qualities that define his approach to wealth management.
